GAINESVILLE - The Disability Resource Center and United Way of Hall County are teaming up to celebrate the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) with a free cleaning of non-electric medical equipment.
The cleaning will be done by a HubScrub machine on July 25 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Disability Resource Center Office on Woodsmill Rd.
"We have partnered with United Way of Hall County and are providing a service for any individuals that have durable medical equipment - wheel chairs, walkers, bedside commodes and so forth," said Nancy Peeples, Resource Specialist for the Disability Resource Center.
Peeples said the Hub Scrub machine can clean, sanitize and deodorize any durable medical equipment in about 15 minutes. Staff will also be grilling hot dogs and serving refreshments.
Peeples said this event in the second cleaning event the resource center has held and the center plans to make the cleanings a monthly event.
The ADA was signed in July of 1990 by then-President George Bush. The act protects those with disabilities against discrimination and provides public accessibility.
