Health Minister Fred Horne and Premier Alison Redford are asking Albertans with developmental disabilities and their families to trust them when it comes to making changes to disability programs. Redford promises those who need help will continue to get it. "Everything that we have said — and people can trust us — is that people who require services will receive the services that they need to have," she told reporters Tuesday. Alberta's Minister of Health Fred Horne also defended changes to home care in the province. Alberta Health Services is taking a critical look at the high number of contracted agencies that deliver home care, Horne said. Many are serving a small number of clients, he said. "We're not cutting back on home care," he insisted. "There are some changes in the way it's being delivered and I think it's important that we're really sensitive to the feedback that we've been receiving. "We certainly acknowledge that people become accustomed to those that are delivering care to them." Some people who are getting home care worry their relationship with trusted caregivers will end as contracts with some companies are not renewed by the province under the reorganization.
