The awareness day, which runs from 11am to 3pm, is being hosted by FACET at their premises at the Marwick Centre, 21 Marwick Road, March, PE15 8PH. There will be numerous stalls, with service providers and support organisations on hand to provide information about the types of services available, including Adult Placement, Fenland Carers, Community Nursing, FACET and a range of other service providers of varying types. Staff from Huntingdon Regional College will also be on hand to discuss potential recruitment either for September 2013 or September 2014 for the BTEC courses in vocational studies which they have on offer at FACET’s premises in March for young people 16 – 25 years of age. People attending the event will also be able to sign up for a number of presentations which will give more detailed information on the various services available. There will also be the opportunity for one to one discussions if required. In addition Claire Bailey from the County Council’s Learning Disability Partnership will be on hand to talk people through the progress made by the Locality Network for the Fenland Area. The Network brings together everyone who has any kind of involvement in providing and improving services for local people with learning disabilities; so much progress has been made over the last 18 months and the group would like to broaden representation at the bi-monthly meetings and would especially like to gain new members who are also parents and carers. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and at 12 noon there will be a performance by FACET’s Music and Movement team to show the progress they have made since these sessions were first introduced about 6 months ago, which have proved immensely popular.
