We started to talk about gardening, then, out of the blue she told me about her relative. She thinks her relative is lucky to be on People with Disabilities Assistance (PWD) because she gets free or subsidized medical service premiums, transit cards, drugs, etc. Does the public really think we are lucky for all this "free" stuff? We only get $906 a month and that needs to cover all of our bills: rent, food, hydro, phone, etc. We can add an extra $800 a month if we can work. A lot of us cannot work or find a job. I would love to see PWD rise so it is on par with the poverty line. For a single person in B.C. that is around $21,000 a year. (PWD is around $10,000 a year.) Not having enough to live on causes anxiety. I'd like the vomiting, the strain and the migraines to stop. My body aches all the time. We shouldn't need to work to pay bills.
