California State University Dominguez Hills was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University System. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of approximately 14,000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Located on a 346-acre site in the South Bay portion of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, CSU Dominguez Hills has a highly pluralistic student body, which includes a significant number of non-traditional, working adult students as well as approximately 2,000 students enrolled in distance learning programs statewide. The University, with its five Academic Colleges, has more than 300 full-time faculty members and is situated in an area characterized by an extraordinary heterogeneity of people, and an extensive array of high technology industries and professional services.
Conditions of Employment:
Candidates must pass a Live Scan (fingerprinting) background check as a requirement of employment.
The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate is required to complete a background check prior to assuming this position.

Full-time, permanent (probationary) position.
Department: Disabled Student Services
The Disabled Student Services Office is committed to the student with a disability and his/her right to an equal educational experience. The goal is for the student with a disability to utilize the services provided to maximize independence and full integration into university life.
Major Job Duties:
Under general supervision of the Director and Associate Director supports Disabled Student Services, the Disability Management Advisor is responsible for providing support to the Disabled Student Services in providing person-to-person interaction for students with disabilities in the provision of reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of: The practices, procedures and activities of the Disabled Student Services office. Knowledge of disabilities and their functional limitations, research techniques, and remediation of problems in areas affecting students with disabilities, veterans and their dependents. Knowledge of organizational development, planning and structure; knowledge of principles of administrative, personnel and fiscal management; knowledge of statistics and research methodologies; knowledge of laws and regulations concerning persons with disabilities; knowledge of and understanding of the role and functioning of Student Services and Academic Affairs programs in higher education settings; knowledge of and ability to work with students with disabilities from multi cultural backgrounds presenting various attitudes and value systems.
Ability to: Interpret and apply the rules and policies of the Disabled Student Services & Veterans' Affairs Office. Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and implementing long-range program improvements. Ability to collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal and/or written presentations based on data. Ability to effectively interface with all disabled students, veterans and their dependents, and related campus staff, faculty, administration and related organizations external to the campus. Ability to visualize needed changes and improvements in the provision of reasonable course accommodations and modifications; ability to gain acceptance of program operations based on positive working relationships and recognition and understanding of the need for compromise and flexibility in the development and facilitation of reasonable accommodations as required by all applicable laws.
Skill in: Planning and implementing operational policies and procedures. Skills in administrative practices and techniques in documenting, researching and evaluations policies and procedures for the purpose of making recommendations to the Director of Disabled Student Services & Veterans' Affairs. The position activities may require the use of the following equipment, machinery, tools, vehicles or office equipment: central computer (student service information system, etc.), personal computer, calculator, photocopier, FAX, multi-line telephone system, email, etc.
Experience and Education:
Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field.
Preferred: Five (5) years minimum experience performing professional Student Services work of unusual difficulty requiring extensive work experience in the area of services to students with disabilities. Extensive knowledge of disability issues and the provision of services to students with disabilities on a college or university level.
Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.
Experience or Education Substitutions:
Additional specialized experience which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. A Master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
Salary Range: The salary range for this classification is: $3,519 - $5,002 per month.
